This is my entry for Challenge #54-What's In Your Playlist. I chose Dean Winchester because in some ways we have similar tastes in music. The original screencaps I used for the images came from oxoniensis.

Ode to the Impala – A Driving Mix for Dean Winchester

1) Highway to Hell by AC/DC. The opening guitar solo promises some serious musical ass-kicking. The rest of the song delivers. A good song for head-banging at a bar.

2) Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. This song is pretty creepy, actually. It's also extremely catchy. Good for drumming along on the steering wheel.

3) Denim and Leather by Saxon. I think people who overlook Saxon are really missing out. They do some great metal songs, including this one. Denim and leather are staples of my own wardrobe, which proves they have good taste.

4) Hotel California by The Eagles. They just don't sing songs like this anymore. Another creepy ballad-type song that is widely recognized. Great for starting sing-alongs at parties.

5) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC. This is one of my theme songs. Sam and I are often dirty and usually don't get paid. Also the rhythm is bitchin'.

6) Poison by Alice Cooper. Alice and I both deal a lot with the darker side of life. The opening riffs for this song hook you right in and they lyrics are simple, but describe so many aspects of a bad relationship. Also I can totally kill this song in Rock Band.

7) Badlands by Bruce Springsteen. I can remember listening to this song on Dad's record player. The Badlands can be literal but they can also be any rough time in your life. You just have to keep driving through them until you get to the other side.

8) Hearsedriver by E. J. Wells. This isn't my usual type of song, but a girl I went out with once gave it to me on a tape. I can totally agree with the guy telling the story-driving a hearse is always better than lying in the back of one. It's sort of rock meets goth meets bluegrass.

9) Hurts So Good by John Cougar Mellencamp. I think he was still Johnny Cougar when he did this song. I just can't help humming along to it. Sometimes love does hurt in a good way-not broken bones, though. Those just hurt.

10) Two Heads Are Better Than One by Power Tool. Don't tell Sam, but this is kind of our theme song. We don't always get a long but when we do we're a great team. Also the beat of this song really rocks-lots of drums and guitar chords.

...who feels the need to take a break from an increasingly dysfunctional relationship.

We can't usually afford to do much in a given month regardless but I'll gladly save any money we would have spent to help this cause. Megaupload was just the beginning. If we don't make our voices heard now the internet will soon change and it won't be for the better.
